Since I have been back from Florida I have been totally unproductive. And when I say unproductive I of course mean in anything school related. I have done some knitting and I started reading a new book called “A New Earth”. It was mentioned on Oprah so of course everyone and there mother is reading it.
I am only on chapter three and so far I can’t say I have learned a lot. But it does make you more aware of yourself. I think a lot of those self-help books that talk about being aware of your conscious and unconscious self and keeping your ego in check are things I already know but when you are in the actual situation where your ego gets the best of you you aren’t thinking about the book your thinking, “that bastard just cut me off!” So I think reading it works as repetition and practice to keep those ideas fresh in your mind so you have those ‘moments of weakness’ less and less. One of the things that I know I need to work on is me and my relation ship with the “world of things” as the book says it. With clothes particularly, I think they say something about who I am. This shirt is “me”. I have to have that dress. When I was in Florida looking in all the really expensive shops I kept thinking the women in the shops were judging me and thinking “Shes too poor to be shopping here” and the truth is I was. I don’t want to spend $125 on a tank top even if I was a millionaire but I still felt like I had to buy something to prove to them that they were wrong about me and that I was ‘worth’ a $450 shirt.
So speaking of clothes! Haha. I am almost done with my sweater. I just have the sleeves to do now. This sweater is modeled after a Free People sweater I liked online. I didn’t have a pattern of course so it has been something of a learning experience to make it and I have no clue how I am going to make the sleeves given that I have never even made sleeves when I did have a pattern. Also I am about to run out of my yarn and when I went to Micheal’s to get more they were out of the color I need. So it may be a little while before I can finish it. But here is what it looks like so far.
Final Thoughts:
I need cable. I’ve been watching golf all day because it’s the only channel I get.
