Three Heads Brewing, Custom Brewcrafters, Genesee, Naked Dove, Roc Brewing, Rohrbach, and Rogers.
I had the Dirty Blonde Farmhouse Ale with the Fried Green Tomato BLT which was delicious! But the beer that really stood out was Rohrbach’s Pineapple Wheat, only problem: they ran out before I could even have a full glass! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for that.
Saturday’s big event was the Beer Expo. Over 80 craft beers all in one place outside on Gregory Street in the South Wedge. Along with the beer they had homemade cheeses & mustard, along with locally made pizza, BBQ and sausage.
As for all the beers, there were too many great choices to keep track of them all, or even try all of them for that matter. A few that stood out for me was Barleywine from Abita Brewing which had a unique blend of malt and fruit flavors. The Immortal IPA from Elysian Brewing Co. in Seattle Washington. And I was pleasantly surprised by the Hopulus Localus from Naked Dove.
If you have a sweet tooth there was plenty to temp you. At Southern Tier Brewing once the Pumking was out they tapped their Creme Brulee. Forget about pairing this with a dessert, this is dessert. TheCraftBeerGirl and I also got a special treat over at the Wells tent. A “Banana Split”, half Banana Bread half Young’s Double Chocolate Stout. Next time I try this it will be a la mode. And I can’t forget Liefmans Cuvee Brut. A very sweet cherry beer with a sour flavor and a tang of carbonation.
Overall, an amazing collection of brews and a great group of people! I only wish it could have lasted longer! Lucky for me this is just the start of the Real Beer Week! Check out The Girls Guide to Rochesters Real Beer Week 2012 for ideas on what to do the rest of the week in order to take advantage of all these great beers that are being showcased this week here in Rochester. But more importantly, try and stay sober enough so you can remember them once this week is up!
